Demetris Burnett also known as Burn$ is an independent hip-hop artist and entrepreneur from south central Louisiana. Born August 29, 1992 in Leesville, Louisiana; Burn$ was experimenting with music and beats at an early age. His stepfather taught him how to operate and old school beat box machine and taught him how to mix beats and record over old cassette tapes. It was then at the tender age of eight when Burn$ felt the power of that first beat. With an undeniable talent, a charismatic and magnetic smile, accompanied by a unique lyrical flow Burn$ has a cool, calm, laid back demeanor assisted by an effortless flow that you have to experience to appreciate. As a teenager Burn$ was the driving force and innovator behind a local music group called TYP or Throwed Young Playaz; which only started out as something to do. TYP spit fiya and the city showed love in return. What started out a just a group of childhood friends created a huge buzz and the group started getting plenty of attention. Burn$ stood out in the group as the leader and as a lyrical powerhouse. Upon attending college Burn$ embarked on a solo career under the name Kid Frankie, inspired by a Wiz Khalifa song. Under the artist name of Kid Frankie, Burn$ dropped his first solo mixtape with some college buddies producing the entire LP in house. The album entitled Raw Papers EP was an eclectic flow of diverse lyrics over transitional and powerful beats. After gaining a huge buzz and a stronger fan base Burn$, still under the name Kid Frankie, released his second project entitled L.I.F.E- Living In Fear Every day. ‘LIFE’ included a feature by another local artist and his mentor known by the name Joe Cool currently Slim Terry. Burn$ says, Slim Terry helps him stay focused. After releasing his second project Burn$ began releasing singles to help keep his buzz going with a few throw away tracks. Burn$ has a unique style and flow that is a must hear. He says “It’s hard to connect my music to my city and Louisiana because we are so use to one sound, it’s hard to adapt to my artistry and my sound is nothing they’ve ever heard. I am straight shooting off the hip with some ill shit that is going to change the way people listen to music, PERIOD. By any means!” Burn$ later released a third project titled ‘Public Enemy’ while living in Georgia. This was a life altering experience because it was the first time Burn$ recorded in a real studio. It was on this EP Burn$ dropped the name ‘Kid Frankie’ and became Burn$. “The project was special to me; I actually took my time on this and perfected my craft”. In 2014 Burn$ debuted his talents for the first time a SXSW, performing on the stage for Coast to Coast Mixtapes Showcase. Burn$ placed 4th in the showcase, with an impressive performance. After SXSW Burn$ took a short break from his music and returned back home to Leesville, Louisiana. That’s when he linked up with his friend Mafioso and began discussing a brand he had been thinking about for hungry lyricist and dope artist from the area. They would call it The Commission Corporation or TCC. The Commission Corporation was established in 2015. With over 100 songs and only two artists, TCC is preparing to invade the music industry. Ambition, Love & Loyalty is what the TCC brand is about. Burn$ dropped a few more songs on Audiomack/ Sound Cloud titled ‘Listening to Erykah Badu’ the I WAS BORED VOL 1&2 under his alter ego ‘YoungIceBergSlim’. Burn$ is always thinking about ideas to improve his sound. “I just love the rush I get when someone thinks my shit is dope and tight” Burns says. Burn$ new project is called ‘Most Wanted Ep’ which contains only two features on the same song. The Ep contains 5 tracks that are sure to excite the listener’s ears. Burn$ is presenting this new project in late May hosted by Dj Shon from Chicago. This project will be sure to please with features from Joe Cool, another local artist, Christian Dee, and a poem from Tree of Truth. All tracks produced by YONDO BEATS.
