Genesis Renji – Ride It

‘Ride It’ is an erotic anthem from Genesis Renji about the late nights you link with the person you shouldn’t be with but you can’t stay away from. The third song on the new ‘Midnite Dementia’ EP; a sonic journey through hidden thoughts and emotional traumas.

Genesis Renji is an Emmy nominated hip-hop artist based out of Milwaukee, WI. Born in Bethesda, MD, Renji started rapping at 12 years old after his cousin Pierre introduced him to rap music. After seeing Lupe Fiasco’s “Kick, Push” video, Renji started actively writing and recording himself. Having a creative signature of penning vivid stories like Kendrick Lamar and pairing them with catchy, vibrant hooks like Childish Gambino helped translate into memorable music and performances from the Milwaukee emcee.

From opening for hip-hop legends Jean Grae, Pharoahe Monch, and Skyzoo to creating intimate show releases with cereal bars, Renji’s performances are monumentally unforgettable. Shows like these have led to his highlight performance for Aminé in front of 7,000 festival goers at Summerfest in 2018, and a sold out Milwaukee Bucks halftime performance for a crowd of 17,341.

In 2018, Renji released his LUCID EP, the Gemini Season series featuring 31 songs for 31 days straight, as well as his critically acclaimed S.I.N.S: Stories I Never Shared album that garnered positive reviews and his fastest success from a release. This was soon followed by his work with Milwaukee TMJ4 on a news special “Stollies” regarding the stolen car epidemic in his hometown. This led to an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Interactivity. In 2019 his album Keefe served as “a voice for black boys who felt unheard”, talking on the pressures of being a black man in America and battling mental health and emotional traumas. The album made numerous ‘top album of 2019’ lists for Milwaukee media publications.

Along with his extensive catalog and work ethic, Renji is also a recording engineer for independent artists, most notably Chicago emcee Gerald Walker of Stalley’s Blue Collar Gang, and Josiah Williams, creator of Wrestle and Flow and on-air talent for WWE.
