Whomptie – I Don’t Wanna

Whomptie music video for “I Don’t Wanna”,directed by Kariuki, is the first song off his 5-track EP, “Mira Loma”, which was released on October 4, 2019. “I Don’t Wanna” is produced by Only Way Jay x Julius Portis and mixed/mastered by Don Dadah.

The track highlights an authentic viewpoint of how I see the state of the music industry in comparison to where I’m at in my career. There’s a lot of things I don’t wanna do or talk about simply because these days I try to be as pure as possible, so when it comes to things that don’t align with my current state of mind, then I don’t wanna. Keep it a buck with me and I’ll keep it real with you.

Breaking through in his rap career, Northern California’s Whomptie started making music in high school but made his real debut in his early 20’s. His name, which he pronounces (womp-tee), was founded in 2011 as a gamer tag inspired by a Starting Six song titled, “Smoking with a Whomptie.” The Bay Area artist exuberates his gift of songwriting through his creative verses prominent throughout his entire discography. Whomptie experimented in past projects with fellow rappers Colly Moe, LaFreshman, Lambo Carlo, Dork the Ghost, and producers Ryan Moe, Ninz Beatz, and Nicky Don Dadah. The artist’s biggest inspirations feature Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Lil Wayne, A$AP Mob, BeastCoast, Pi’erre Bourne, Speaker Knockerz & Mac Miller.

The 22-year old artist from Pittsburg, CA (which he refers to as “No H”) released his first mixtape “Young Dub” in 2019 just weeks before issuing his newest EP “Mira Loma” in October. Mainly produced by Pittsburg native Only Way Jay (@onlywayjay), Mira Loma the EP, out on all platforms, is the young artists’ greatest work thus far as he showcases his one-of-a-kind sound with his captivating lyricism, melodies, and harmonies.
